I named Big 5 after the 5 movements I believed to be crucial to get the best long term results.
- SQUAT
- PUSH
- PULL
- TOTAL CORE
- SPRINT
Our training sessions will always include these 5 movements.
- Squats are self explanatory.
- Push can be push ups, bench press, overhead press etc.
- Pull stands for back exercises. Deadlifts can also be included here.
- Total core would be things like mountain climbers and planks.
- Sprints. When I started Big 5 sprints were sprints however now we use this part as any movement that raises the heart rate so could be sled pushes, rowing, air bikes, burpees…
In our Team Training program, which you as a challenger will be joining, we do High Intensity Resistance Training. We call it this as we focus a lot on using weights to get the best possible outcome from our sessions.
Some days we focus more on lower body, some upper and some on a hip hinge move. This would be the focus but not the only thing we do. Most sessions include a full body workout.
We have some days dedicated to conditioning, meaning we train “cardio” Big 5 style. Using weights and bodyweight to create a session that gets you burning extra energy for longer and creating more stimulus to your muscles.
All you have to do is follow what the coaches say and you will get results.
